Welcome to Countryside Veterinary Clinic. We are a mixed animal practice in Fremont, Ohio, serving both small and large animal clients. We strive to give quality care at reasonable prices and to always give excellent customer service in a friendly atmosphere. At Countryside Veterinary Clinic, you can count on high quality service provided by our dedicated veterinarians and highly-trained staff.
Hi! I am Dr. Julie Matthews and I started working full time as a veterinarian at our clinic in July 2009. Growing up I spent many years working at the clinic assisting in the office.
I graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1998 and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from The Ohio State University in 2002. I spent a year working as an Admissions Counselor at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Soon I realized I really wanted to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. I went back to college and earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in June of 2009.
I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine, but have a particular interest for soft tissue surgery in both small and large animals. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association.
I currently have a Golden Retriever named Bella, but would like to add to my animal family soon.

I'm Charlene Reed and I started working at Countryside Veterinary Clinic when the new office opened in 2009.
I live in the Lindsey area with my husband, 3 children, dog and cat. When not working here at the clinic, I am at home helping my husband on the farm or in the barn. My family is also active in raising and showing cattle throughout Ohio.
Hi! I'm Marla Sidell. I've worked at Countryside Veterinary Clinic since 2000.
I live in the Gibsonburg area with my husband, and I have 2 daughters and 1 granddaughter. I have owned and trained horses since I was old enough to do so. We show Clydesdales and also have a couple of trail horses. Four dogs and many cats complete our family.
Hi, I'm Lesa Smith and I have been a veterinary technician since 1999. I graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1988 and from Stautzenberger College in 1999. I started working at Countryside Veterinary Clinic in 2004.
I am married with 2 children and live in Oak Harbor. Our family would not be complete without a few pets. Right now we have 2 Great Danes, 2 cats, 2 rabbits and a horse. In my spare time, I enjoy attending my boys' sporting events and trail riding.
I'm Dr. Greg Matthews. Originally from Pemberville, Ohio, I graduated from Eastwood High School in 1968. I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in 1975.
After graduation, I started a mixed practice in Bowling Green, Ohio, and practiced there for 9 years. The next year was spent working at Select Embryos, Inc., in Plain City, Ohio, doing Embryo Transfer work on cattle. In 1986, I purchased Dr. Russell Miller's veterinary practice in Republic, Ohio and a year later I opened the Fremont office in the Potter Village Shopping Center. In 2009, we moved into our new facility just north of Fremont at 2180 Dickinson St.
I very much enjoy private practice and working with both large and small animals. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, the International Embryo Transfer Society and the Society For Theriogenology and regularly attend continuing education meetings.
